Arbor Day 2012

Fearrington Village will celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday, March 31st this year.  We have ordered 3 bald cypress from Southern States which we will plant along the North Langdon Trail.  At 2PM, Frank McKeever will lead the group of celebrants from the head of the Trail at the blue-topped marker on Millcroft to the planting site near the creekside bench.  Frank  is a wealth of information, not only on trees, but on the local shrubs and birds in our area.

We have taken a bit of licanse with the date in the hopes of students and those still in the work force being able to join in this special day. Technically, in NC, Arbor Day is celebrated on the first Friday following the 15th of March, which would have put it at the 16th this year.  Hopefully, another 2 weeks will provide us with better weather to better enjoy the day.

Following our visit to the planting site, Frank will lead those present who would like a longer walk along the beautiful Millcroft Path.

Arbor Day activities are organized by the Fearrington Green Scene, a committee of the Fearrington HOA.
